A financial statement audit proposal is an audit or verification of the financial statements of a company along with the presentation of an audit opinion. Although companies have internal auditors, financial statement audits are usually performed by external accounting firms who specialise in auditing. The audit opinion given after the auditing process is over serves as an assurance that the statements are fair and there is no corrupting of any of the numbers mentioned there. This way the shareholders and other stakeholders of the company get confidence that the company is operating in a fair manner and their investments are safe. A company can get into trouble if any anomalies are found in the statements.
